Duration : 5-10 minutes Objective :
  • To help participants get to know each other.
  • To give participants an opportunity to improve their communication skills with each other.
Materials Needed :
  • A small nerf ball or soft toy.
Instructions : Have the participants stand in a circle. If there are more than 20 participants, divide the participants into two or more. Explain this exercise is all about them getting to know each other. As the instructor, you will start by tossing the ball to someone in the circle and ask them a question. They will answer the question and then toss the ball to someone else and ask a different question and so on. (If participants are not familiar with each other, they may want to state their name, too.) After a few minutes, challenge participants to repeat a fact about another participant before they ask someone else a question. If someone is not comfortable answering a question, they may pass and then state a fact about themselves that they are not uncomfortable telling. Discussion Questions :
  • What did we learn about each other?
  • How does this help us with today’s training?
  • Is it an advantage to know each other better?  Why?
